From local to global, Trash Hero works to stop plastic pollution and build momentum for a safe, circular economy based on the principles of zero waste. Below you can find our latest impact numbers and some stories from our blog; you can read many more in our Annual Reports – or follow us on social media!
The global Trash Hero network consists of 102 volunteer groups (“chapters”) in Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Poland, Japan, Germany, Kuwait and Cambodia. Our latest compiled data*, up until 30 June 2024, show 538,530 volunteers worldwide have participated in 22,113 cleanups, removing 2,534,487kg of garbage from beaches and cities.
We have distributed 109,828 reusable water bottles, preventing the use of approximately 42,799,170 single-use plastic bottles and 2,087 tonnes of CO2 emissions. To date, we have 511 participating businesses in our water refill network across SE Asia and Europe.
23,330 kids books have been printed in 8 languages to help inspire and motivate children to be Trash Heroes in their everyday lives.

Beyond cleanups: Trash Hero in the community
Regular cleanups build trust and engagement within communities. Once trust has been established, volunteers can take our mission one step further through our Trash Hero Communities programme. Trash Hero Communities aims to create consensus for zero waste systems and lifestyles that can address the plastics crisis. Events range from educational presentations to implementing reuse systems
