Trash Hero World has an independent Board of Trustees, made up of Swiss citizens. Management responsibility is delegated to an Executive Director and core international support team.
The team carries out the policies adopted by Trash Hero World and develops and coordinates the programme delivery. Together they provide leadership, oversight and support to the whole Trash Hero network, with input from the country organisations and chapters.
As an organistion, we also benefit from specialist advice on fundraising, legal, scientific and other matters from professional experts in their field. Most offer their services pro bono, for which we are very grateful.

Silvia earned a Master’s degree in environmental sciences and subsequently received a doctorate in neurobiology. She has worked for more than 20 years as a marine conservation biologist. Right from the beginning of Trash Hero World she has been impressed with the positive impact of the organisation on nature and people and feels honoured to support and to be part of the movement.

Rahel was born in Switzerland, is 38 years old and holds a MSc in Business Administration with a Specialisation in Public and Nonprofit Management. Since mid-2017 she has been volunteering for Trash Hero World on a part-time basis and took over the office of president in January 2020.

Board Treasurer
Silvia is an experienced accountant in the field of bookkeeping and administration, working for 20 years in a trust company, before setting up her own business in 2003. She also sits on the board of Bioma SA in Quartino (bioma.com), which develops “chemical-free” and “GMO-free” products to help the environment. She first encountered Trash Hero through a meeting with Roman Peter, the co-founder. Her 4 children are the most important reason for her to use her experience and knowledge to make the environment worth living in for the next generations.
